The wealth of Lebanon during the Bronze Age (3100-1100 BC) was based on three main factors; the availability of Lebanese Cedar, the insatiable appetite of the Egyptians for this cedar, and the willingness of the people to sail and trade this timber far afield. While Lebanese Cedar is today restricted to a few small pockets, it was once widspread although efforts are again underway to reforest the Lebanese hills in this iconic timber.
