The Tomb of Cyrus the Great

Close-by to the palace area at Pasargadae is the tomb of Cyrus the Great. Based on a Lydian (south-west Turkey) model of tomb construction, this simple tomb has been revered throughout the ages. In this photo it is undergoing restoration with a temporary roof over the original 6th century BC structure.
