Hamadan (ancient Ecbatana)

Little of the site of ancient Ecbatana has been excavated. Some sections of the walls that once surrounded the site have been exposed on one side of the mound, while in the centre areas of domestic housing have been unearthed. However, archaeologists are still unsure as to the precise date for many of these finds.
