The Walls of Ebla

In this view you are looking from the top of the Tell at Ebla, across the lower town towards the massive mud brick walls which ring the site. Although eroded into smooth contours today, these walls once protected a lower town that covered over 45 hectares. The walls contained four gateways; an unexcavated example is seen in this photograph.
