The Hippodrome at Tyre

Among the unique surviving traces of Classical Period Tyre is a well-preserved Hippodrome used for horse and chariot racing. One of only a few known Hippodromes in the entire Near East, this Hippodrome has preserved sections of seating, as well as the spina (pictured) around which the horses and chariots turned.
