Tomb of Xerxes

This photograph shows the tomb of the Persian king Xerxes, famous as the leader of the Persian forces in such memorable battles such as Thermopylae and Salamis during the Persian invasions of Greece in 480 BC. Styled in imitation of a great Persian palace, these tombs were empty in the modern period, but they must have once contained incredible riches.
